Recurring payments tracker: know what leaves before it leaves

Recurring charges are the quietest part of a budget. They were each a reasonable decision once, they never ask again, and together they usually account for more than people expect.

Track recurring payments free

  • Any cadence

Weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, or every N days — all project forward automatically.

  • Visible on the calendar

Each occurrence appears on its date with the balance carried through it.

  • True monthly cost

Annual charges shown as their monthly equivalent so the real total is honest.

  • Reminders before collection

A few days' notice is enough to cancel something you no longer want.

What counts as recurring

  • Rent or mortgage, insurance and utilities.
  • Loan, card and finance agreement payments.
  • Software and media subscriptions, personal and business.
  • Memberships — gym, professional body, coworking.
  • Regular transfers: savings, tax set-asides, family support.
  • Annual renewals: domains, certifications, vehicle tax.

The annual-charge trap

A single annual renewal is the most disruptive recurring item because it is large, infrequent and easy to forget. It also renews on a date nobody remembers agreeing to.

Entering it as an annual recurring item does two things: the calendar shows the hit on the right date, and a reminder arrives while cancelling is still an option.

A quarterly audit worth doing

  1. List every recurring item with its true monthly equivalent.
  2. Sort by cost and read the top five carefully.
  3. For each, ask whether you would sign up again today at that price.
  4. Cancel anything you would not, immediately rather than at renewal.
  5. Redirect the freed amount to a savings or debt item so it does not silently absorb.
